Joeyfivebags Posted 2 hours ago Posted 2 hours ago I bought a new control plate for my Fender Japan JB62 PJ as i'm doing some electronic upgrades and needed wider pot holes. However despite the overall dimensions appear correct the new plate seems to have a different 'curve' on the volume pot end and therefore doesn't fit the pickguard. Any ideas as to what plate i'm likely to need as i'd rather not drill out the holes on the original? Quote

gjones Posted 2 hours ago Posted 2 hours ago I found that removing the pickguard, then fitting the control plate, and then re-fitting the pickguard usually works. It took me a while to figure this method out though, as in the past I've ended up sanding the pickguard to get it, and the control panel, to fit snugly. Quote

Cheers for the advice and ill keep it in mind, unfortunately i don't think it will help in this case as a side by side shows that the widest part is a few mm further forward on the new one resulting in a shallower angle on the 'curve' meaning there will always be a gap between guard and plate Quote
JJMotown Posted 2 hours ago Posted 2 hours ago Japanese dimensions and fit are different to standard. The curve you're talking about you'll have to judge by eye, some are rounded, others more angular. Quote
Joeyfivebags Posted 2 hours ago Author Posted 2 hours ago Just double checked the dimenions on the product page of the gotoh plate i bought and didn't notice that they specify the screw spacing, appears i've brought the wrong plate. Cheers for the help all Quote
