I am thinning the bass herd to fund a spindle sander so selling my Ibanez SR1000EFM Prestige 2005. An upgraded, gig-ready beauty loaded with Nordstrand pickups, a John East selectable active/passive Uni-Pre 3-band preamp, and genuine Japanese Luminlay side dots. These basses do not come up for sale very often as they are absolute keepers. There is barely any fret wear. Even for one of these models, the figuring on the flame maple wood is exceptional and this is complemented by the matching flame maple headstock wooden “Prestige” truss rod cover and rosewood fretboard. This was built before CITES regulations came into being so is “proper” rosewood but as a finished instrument is exempt.

 

 

I still have the made in the USA Bartolinis pickups that bass was built with and I will include these with the sale in case the new owner wants to put it back to more original. They haven’t been used for a few years so I will chuck them in for free if the buyer wants them.

 

This isn’t your average Ibanez; it has the playability and feel you’d expect from a Prestige model. It was made during the time(2005-2009) that the prestige line moved from production in Japan to Korea. Only the J Custom basses are above these in quality but I would argue that this is one of the most refined, fast and comfortable basses I’ve played. The build quality is superb. It’s been freshly strung with new Elixir Nanoweb strings with very minimal playing time and had a full set up by Selborne Guitars, so it’s ready to go straight out the case.

9v East Uni Preamp – crystal-clear EQ, lots of tonal control

Totally independent active and passive signal paths guarantee completely smooth blend when set to active.

Custom designed pots allow optimal placement of all controls within active and passive signal paths.

Class A FET input stages for great sound quality, with two gain trim preset adjusters for each pickup.

Operational response of Bass Control can be set internally at both the lower and upper ends of the bass spectrum.

Treble Control with internally adjustable frequency voicing, plus Bright as a pull switch.

Mid Control with Frequency Sweep.

Overall response can be set as flat or with pre-shaper contour, which adds some warmth and sheen.

Modular concept allows for easy installation and replacement of parts should that ever be necessary, all with pluggable connections.

Screw terminals are used for all external connections such as pickups, power and grounding, for easy installation.

 

FLAT RESPONSE: Neutral response setting.
PRE-SHAPE: Gentle lift at the lower and higher frequencies, peaking +4dBs at 40Hz & 10kHz.
PICKUP GAIN: Internal Trimmers 0-12dBs for each pickup in Active Mode.
BASS CONTROL: +/- 18dBs Cut/Boost with internally adjustable bass window
BASS WINDOW: Lower Frequency Filter 20-80Hz & Higher Frequency Filter 40 - 200Hz.
MID CONTROL: +/- 14dBs Cut/Boost with Frequency Sweep 100Hz - 2.5kHz.
TREBLE CONTROL: +/- 18dBs with internally Shelf Frequency 1kHz - 7.5kHz, Pull for Bright peaking at 10kHz.

I had one of these around 2005. A beauty she was. A super skinny necked tone monster. Had Barts in it as far as I remember. I’ve always regretted selling it as it was such a lovely player. Alas, I needed a Precision and so it went. If I had the cash I’d be sorely tempted. GLWTS

You are absolutely right that they did come originally with American made Barts. I still have them so I can include them with sale in case someone wants to put it back to more original.

I hope you don’t mind me pointing out that the pickups look like Nordstrands rather than Aguilar.  They are however still very good pickups which will give the bass a different flavour over the stock USA Bartolinis. GLWTS.

I think you are right. I’m such a silly goose…….I have changed the advert. I think they are big singles.
