I second the Elites DBE strings. Got them on a Jack bass which is my back up at gigs. Sound perfectly fine to me.

Is it wide from edge to edge, or thick from front to back - or both 😬? I've been keeping an eye out for one of these basses, as it's of the few headless designs that doesn't look completely weird to me, but if it's anything like a full Precision-width nut then I will think again.

I have a beaten Washburn Status copy somewhere. I didn't like the thickness of the neck, nor some parts of the body. One very skilled carpenter removed the lacquer, and shaved the back of the neck quite some. I played that bass maybe four years, until I bought a Modulus. Try to shave the back of the neck. A couple of millimetres will already make a difference.

Neck thickness is one of those things that I don't actually have a strong opinion about. I'm as happy playing a thick neck as a thin one, it just took me by surprise.
