Pete1967 Posted 9 hours ago Posted 9 hours ago (edited) I've had it for 10 or 15 years and is definitely a result of gigging and producing at higher than healthy volumes - for me it's a very high constant tone. Almost a perfect sinewave and around 11khz. It was always 'manageable' until July/Aug last year when it became almost unbearable... I'd had covid in May last year and by July I was suffering badly with all the classic symptoms of long covid, including rampant tinnitus. It's quite well documented that in folks with LC, any existing condition is turned up to 11. The panic, fatigue, gastric and cardiac symptoms are now, a year later, easing off, but the tinnitus is stubbornly refusing to subside. Virtually nothing helps, but an iPhone app called OTO has been very effective at helping me come to terms with it - it's not cheap though. It's basically a range of cognitive therapies that help you to habituate so it doesn't bother me as much as it did. It's still effin' annoying but no longer causes anxiety. Boodang Posted 3 hours ago Posted 3 hours ago For everyday noisy environments like a pub, I use Loops on a low attenuation (this helps to understand speech). Loops on higher attenuation for when playing acoustic drums with standard monitoring and when it's IEMs I use with a limiting preamp to stop high levels. For sleeping I find the Bose sleep buds help distract my tinnitus. In fact I use them regularly when travelling rather than noise cancelling headphones. Quote
