dave74200 Posted Saturday at 20:25 Posted Saturday at 20:25 I have 2 Orange 112 cabs and want to use my Warwick Gnome to power them. It only has one jack output on it. Can I connect that to one of them and then daisy chain to the other one? Sorry for the naivety, I've never done this before!! Quote
Bill Fitzmaurice Posted Saturday at 21:47 Posted Saturday at 21:47 That's why the cabs have two jacks. Make sure the impedance load isn't too low for the amp. 2 1 Quote
Downunderwonder Posted Monday at 03:25 Posted Monday at 03:25 If they are 4 ohm cabs it is a no go unless your amp is a rare breed of 2 ohm capable kind. Unlikely. 2 x 8 ohm cabs should always be fine. Once in a blue moon a cable or socket can be miswired. That can really mess with you mind. You would hear it as a dropout of most of the low end. 2 1 Quote
Phil Starr Posted Tuesday at 14:06 Posted Tuesday at 14:06 As above check the impedance of the Orange cabs. If they are 8ohm cabs then you can daisy chain two of them and you'll get a very noticable increase in volume. If they are 4ohm cabs your Gnome won't power them and will go into a fault mode when you play at any volume with a bit of a risk that you could damage your amp. Quote
Downunderwonder Posted Tuesday at 23:40 Posted Tuesday at 23:40 If there is any chance they could have non original drivers or they don't say they are 8ohm you should probably check. That's a lot harder with speakons. You would have to find your preferred way of getting a multimeter on the driver to measure DCR. Should be in the 5 to 6 ohm range for an 8 ohm cab. Impedance goes up when it is working to push air. 1 Quote
