Only recently got this as I've wanted to try one for a while as a possibly workhorse for a function band. These are great basses but I don't think its the one for me at the moment.

Really good quality and nice feel to it, and a good B string. Weighs in at around 4.3kgs.

In great condition, only 1 mark on the body, the scratch plate and rear panel still have the cellophane on them.

Could be interested in trades for 4 or 5 strings.

Would prefer collection from Chelmsford, comes with a good Yamaha gig bag but I don't currently have packing material to ship.

Any questions please ask!

Hi - I have a Sterling Stingray5 in red - am seeking a black bass instead though - prefer the the aesthetics! Would be an ideal straight swap I would suggest and even better, I am gigging in Chelmsford on Saturday... (Golden Fleece, Duke Street)

PM if interested and I will take some pictures in the interim...

Hi, I’m looking for my first 5 stringer and this could be a good option - I have never tried one of this though - based in London W11

My first 5er was a 735a and it is a proper workhorse. Loads of great features - 45 degree string through body, 6 bolt neck joint and a five piece laminate neck for tons of stability, a battery light indicator (why don't all actives have this!) and a true passive/active toggle (i.e. passive mode works with a dead battery) with a passive tone baked into the treble control.

String spacing is on the narrower side too at the nut, making it feel much less jarring to transition from playing 4s.

I did a small bit of nut filing from the factory's specs, but it set up great and sounded very bright and modern. A set of GHS pressurewounds made it really come to life!

If you're looking for a good 5 to start your journey I honestly doubt you'd beat this at the price!

As ritsugamesh said it is a great value workhorse with a wide range of sounds.

You are welcome to come and try it but it’s a bit of a trek from w11!

Still here… interesting. Still looking for my first 5 stringer. Tried one of this at the Yamaha London shop and liked it but also tried a Dingwall at the Bass Gallery and seems like the long scale makes a real difference to the Low B - however is 4 times the money. I have been looking at the spector dimension and Ibanez BTB805… lots to consider
