CROWN XLS 602 Power amp:

 

Crown are known for making some cracking power amps, however this is not one of those! , being from their old budget XLS range.

The Bad points:

 

This particular amp has a couple of problems:

 

• One of the channels often takes a few minutes to "kick in", though, so far, it always has eventually.
• The cooling fan has been fiddled with at some point, I suspect that it was once a variable speed, but has been modified to be permanently on.
• The fan grills on the back are rusty. Cosmetic only, but possibly an indication of how it has been treated/stored. I believe that it was at some time used behind a bar, or in a club etc.
• The sound quality is "OK", but not spectacular.
• It hasn't been powered up for several years.

 

 

The Good points:

 

• It's free to collect from the Daventry (Nothamptonshire) area.
• Might be a simple fix to make it a reliable, if basic, amp.
