Hi all,

Does anyone have any info on lodestone basses? I know they're Ashdown, but I'm after info on one that is the p bass variant that says it has emgs and claw inlays, but this one doesn't - it has dot inlays and blank pick up covers?

It says these were originally UK built then moved to Czech republic, but I'm just checking there isn't a cheaper version that was released etc?

The P-bass variant was the Primal Instinct wasn't it?

From what I can gather these did indeed come with EMG pickup, and you're also correct about the 'claw' inlays.

Again, correct that they were Chez Republic made.

I only know this as I have the Lodestone Primal Artist 5-String and I looked for information on the basses before I bought mine early last year.

I've never actually seen an Instinct come up for sale, so quite rare to see anything about them.

I traded a brand new Fender SRV strat  + £200 for a Primal Artist when they first came out - worst deal I've ever done. I've tried to sell it on numerous occasions at a vastly reduced price but never get any takes. Its a lovely looking bass  but has the worst shielding of any instrument I've ever known. Certainly has the EMG's in this one.The inlays remind me of prawns !

The one I've seen though for some reason has dot inlays (not claws) and blank pick up covers (not marked emg)?

Does it have the correct carved/shaped headstock?

Yes, correct flat looking headstock with lodestone guitar company on it.

It shouldn't be a "flat looking headstock", it should look like this …

The above is my Lodestone Primal Artist, but the Primal Instinct bass had the same design headstock.

Had Lodestone basses in my collection since 2012, had 5 at one point. I think I may have done the first UK review back in 2010 when they were released. Mark Gooday borrowed my original T-Bass to send to the Czech Republic to take specs, etc.

Got bass reviews and demos on my YT channel and actually set one up on a Live Chat on Friday before taking it to gigs over the past two nights. If I can help, let me know.
