The P and the Jazz or is it a specific pickup ? could be a faulty pickup. I love the sound of mine as I said very even sound on every string, with amazing tone in particular the reverse P set. Hope you get it sorted. great basses and very well put together. I am sure Mark will sort you out. We ALL try our best to help 1 Quote

It is very weak in terms of volume and I understand that it is a known problem with some types of pickup/preamp config. The CST has an on board Darkglass preamp and it's great on four of the five strings (!). Ive tried everything including pickup height etc but nothing resolves it. To be honest Im pissed off with the guitar already after paying £2600 for it and I'm going to return it to the good guys at BassDirect to see what can be done. Im minded to P/Ex it for ANYTHING else right now!! CAVEAT EMPTOR !!! JB. Did you ever get this sorted? I notice mine is very similar and can't resolve it Quote

stefano.cirillo1977 Posted 46 minutes ago Posted 46 minutes ago For the benefit of people with the G string problem on the 5-string bass. After several discussions with the guitar shop owner (trying to understand why there was this issue), we solved it easily. First of all, this issue affects only the 5 string. And only the p-pickup. The 5-string has an odd number of strings, so the split pickup should take care of the first 2 strings with one side of the pickup and 3 strings with the other side. The reason why the G string has a lower volume is because it has been switched with the p pickups, so the side with two strings to take care of has 3 poles and the side with 3 strings has only 2 (resulting in the G string without a proper pole associated). To solve it, simply switch the p bass pickups, and you will be fine. You’re welcome. Quote
