Venues In & Around Chelmsford

Can anybody recommend any small venues, or pubs with a music license, in the Chelmsford area please. I want somewhere to host a small birthday party, 30 guests max, with one of my bands playing a couple of sets.

So are you looking at hiring the space in a pub exclusively for your band/guests or getting your band a gig in a pub at the same time as your 30 guests turning up?

I think a private booking may not be the way to go. Possibly a pub that won't mind a free band (the birthday girl is paying us), we'll bring the 25-30 people, and the pub is still open to the public. The pub will just need a license for a 4 piece band. I will supply PA, as big or small as is needed for the size of the room.

Try the Lion Inn at Boreham, just on the outskirts of Chelmsford with easy access off the A12.

 

My pal who lives in Chelmsford has had a couple of parties in their very pleasant function room, no idea of price, but definitely worth an enquiry.

 

If guests are coming from away, there is a very handy Premier Inn just up the road for overnight stays.

Try The Swan in Hatfield Peverel. It’s not a huge pub and not usually over busy. We’re playing there next week. I don’t know how far in advance they get booked tho.
