Ashdown Sub Harmonic Generator

hi, i had a search through pages and couldnt find anything asking this question so apologies if theres already a post but, im looking for a copy of the ampeg sub blaster since they come up for sale so rarely, is the ashdown sub harmonic generator a similar type of octave pedal? as well does anyone have any experience with it in general?

The Ashdown is… meh… and certainly not in the same tonal category as the Sub Blaster. The closest comparison, to my ears, is the Aguilar Octomizer, thanks to the built in low pass filter that lets you tune it just right.

 

IMO, I think the Aguilar is far far far superior to the Sub Blaster in basically every way, while still letting you nail that sound if you want it (and it’s still not my favourite octave pedal!).

 

Oh, it’s also going to be waaaaaaaay cheaper than finding an Ampeg! Win.

sweet thannks, ill have a look at it. plus that aguilar is alot less big than those ampeg ones.

There was one of the Ashdown combos with the sub generator left on when I plugged in at rehearsal. I thought it was broken. Switching it off restored it.

FTElettronica Sub Octave is an excellent Sub Blaster clone. I have both and they sound pretty much identical. And it's a lot cheaper, readily available and small.
