The quote says, The Lost Bass Project is appealing for information about what it describes as "the most important bass in history".

Is it, is it the most important bass is history? Possibly although Jamerson's might have a strong case for that title despite being less well know, his might be the most important and McCartney's being the most famous.

I am on the verge of ordering a Cavern Contemporary if it sounds different ? I have the regular CT 500/1 and do not go for a bassy tone with roundwounds and use of the bridge pickup. The Macca tone I like best is Penny Lane, Rain, Hey Bulldog . Those tunes may be Paul's Rickenbacker ? Thomann sell it cheaper than any store in the States.
