played a rockbass corvette fretless today

...at one of the evil shops on denmark street.

i was impressed...i'm on the lookout for a decent fretless now i've cut my teeth on my £50 cheapie, so i thought i'd try out a rockbass today if i could find one, as i understand they all share the same neck.

it played very well - the neck is thicker than my little hands are used to, but it seemed to suit playing fretless.

so...

do i hit GAK with my credit card for a rockbass fortress fretless ?

i'm giving myself till wednesday to decide i think

any thoughts ?

i wouldn't say it was too big, just bigger than i'm used to.

it's a matter of finding a place that has one in stock...and i'm meant to be doing some recording this weekend...with a fretless

it's the p-j configuration i'm after to be honest.

I'd wait if I were you. A new line of Rockbasses is coming out this summer.

They will have a two piece bridge and lose the cheesy "Rockbass" logo.

Have a look at this thread on the Warwick forum. Note the tasty looking fortress fretless.

I had a passive Rockbass Corvette (until I decided I no longer need a fretless bass).

Apart from the silly plastic adjust-a-nut it was a very good bass (and I´m not fond of Warwicks really). Much more growl and mwah and character than all the other basses around that price range (including Fender). Very well made too and less than half price compared to the big W Corvette. If you like it, go for it.

Any news on releases for these? I've found nothing on a date. :)
Be awesome if they made a Rockbass $$ 5-string as well as 4!
