ahpook
...at one of the evil shops on denmark street. i was impressed...i'm on the lookout for a decent fretless now i've cut my teeth on my £50 cheapie, so i thought i'd try out a rockbass today if i could find one, as i understand they all share the same neck. it played very well - the neck is thicker than my little hands are used to, but it seemed to suit playing fretless. so... do i hit GAK with my credit card for a rockbass fortress fretless ? i'm giving myself till wednesday to decide i think any thoughts ? maxrossell
My thoughts are that if the Rockbass is the only one you've tried, I'd try a bunch of others before committing. Especially if the neck was a bit big for your comfort.

OutToPlayJazz
The passive 'proper' Warwick Corvette fretless is really nice as well and not much more money if I remember rightly.

rjb
I'd wait if I were you. A new line of Rockbasses is coming out this summer. They will have a two piece bridge and lose the cheesy "Rockbass" logo. Have a look at this thread on the Warwick forum. Note the tasty looking fortress fretless. lemmywinks
Even if you don't go for the newer ones chances are the current ones will drop in price when they come out. A German Warwick Fortress went for £380 on eBay the other week so might be worth keeping your eye out. You'll be bidding against me though
Soulfinger
I had a passive Rockbass Corvette (until I decided I no longer need a fretless bass). Apart from the silly plastic adjust-a-nut it was a very good bass (and I´m not fond of Warwicks really). Much more growl and mwah and character than all the other basses around that price range (including Fender). Very well made too and less than half price compared to the big W Corvette. If you like it, go for it.

SJA
I was also impressed when I tried a Rockbass corvette fretless a while ago- wish they did them with lined fingerboards though.

I've found nothing on a date. Be awesome if they made a Rockbass $$ 5-string as well as 4!
