Roger Phillips Posted February 15, 2023 Share Posted February 15, 2023 Week-ending 11th February: that was a bolt out of the blue and shouldn't have happened. Stevie was a well respected musician and session bass-player living in the Cotswolds. His services were called upon by many including Leanne Carroll, Stevie Windwood and I'm told, Jeff Beck and Eric Clapton; spent much time in Ronnie Scott's. He cut his teeth in Kendal, North-West England in jazz-rock outfits before moving South. He passed away during an operation to remove gall-stones and had a cardiac arrest. Bob Ellis Posted January 12 Share Posted January 12 Having been lucky enough to share the stage with Steve and studio on many occasions. I was devastated when I got the news from my home town Kendal. I think I was still at school when I first recorded with him at Linden Sounds. Steve was 23 then and obviously brilliant. He was always unassuming and even though most of us were still at school he treated every song we recorded with the utmost respect and his bass playing was mesmerising.
