Until he retired, I'd have recommended getting them custom from @obbm.

 

There are other custom cable makers available through Basschat, but if you're on a budget I've always found the best value (in terms of quality, signal and longevity) have been the original Fender tweed cables. Boring, I know, but true.

 

It's probably more important to know which cable manufacturers to avoid, in truth. Planet Waves have a very bad reputation here, for example.

Do you know where I can find out what other cable makers there are on here? Is there an existing thread with a list for example?

I don't want anything fancy as I'm just starting out, but something with a good sound and fairly affordable. Sounds like those Fender tweeds might be a good option, too.
