I've yet to find a drummer that will stay on top of the beat and not drop back when the bass is dragging that much! The Funk Posted April 7, 2009 Share Posted April 7, 2009 I agree with you but if you ignore D'angelo, Angie Stone and t'other dude (Anthony Hamilton?), then you have a proper funk rhythm section in the guitar player (James Poyser?), Pino and ?uestlove laying down grooves that are an important extension of the funk vocabulary.
