Starter Amp?

I just bought a bass guitar to play in the praise band at church. Since the church has their own sound system which I'll be playing through, I didn't really need an amp other than to practice on. I purchased the dragonfly stethoscope amp to do that on, but I got to thinking I might like to have a decent amp on hand in case I'm called to another venue to play sometime. My budget is tight and I was wondering if there are any decent amps out there for around 200. I know you get what you pay for and there's only so much I can get for 200, but since I've never played bass, only 6 strings, I have no idea what's out there and what to look for. Any advice?
Jack

I'd always recommend the ashdown eb180 (link) which is probably available for around £200. Have a look at the amps for sale section on basschat too, always a bargain around!

You have a world of great amps in the second hand market that will suit your requirements.

Off the top of my head you could get a really good Trace Elliot, Ashdown, Hartke, Laney.

You will probably only be able to get a combo but if you get one with an extension speaker output it mean you get get an extra cab when you need to further down the line.

This could be what you're looking for http://basschat.co.uk/index.php?showtopic=42706

CK spotted this on eBay - http://basschat.co.uk/index.php?showtopic=43917 - If you can pick it up then I don't think you'll find anything better for the money. Looks like a great deal.

I would look at ebay too.

An Ashdown MAG would be my first choice (used to have a full stack MAG rig, delicious). But look out for Trace Elliott Commandos, Peavey TNTs, bigger Laney combos and even the Hartke stuff.

I was looking a few days ago to find something for my brother, hes found a deal now so I'll share what else we were interested in.
