that sounds easiest ...what filler should be used in the neck to guarantee a good grip if the new holes are marginally different?

is dowelling a better option

Yes, I use 3 and 4mm hardwood dowel for filling pickguard and neck screw holes respectively. Drill them out to the appropriate size up and glue in the dowel. Cut/sand flush and redrill.

What's the scale length going to be when you've finished Wayne?

This is how I did my Warmoth, much better than wood screws imo.

No idea TBH :S

It looks good but for £45 it's probably worth more than the bass.

Ah right - I'd imagined they'd be much closer than that. Should be OK then.

As for the drill bit size - it wants to be as close to the same size as the shaft of the threaded portion of the screw as possible - the threads should be cutting into the wood, but the shaft itself should have a snug fit. Slightly too small is better than slightly too large, obviously.

That's a nice idea.... would be great for someone that wants to frequently remove the neck for travelling. Bit OTT unless you're planning to remove the neck a lot though...

thats how it should be...machine screws and inserts..that is the engineers way and can take a lot of torque to make sure the neck is really tight against the pocket and good pull down force

even they can be repositioned
