Bilbo Posted August 25 Author Posted August 25 (edited) Apologies for going 'off topic' but I have done another mahoosive Al Di Meola chart that I am really proud of. This is the solo guitar part for the tune 'Esmeralda' from the 2015 Al Di Meola album, 'Elysium'. I do these for my own purposes but it seems silly just to keep them to myself. Let your guitar player friends know about them if you think they may be interested. https://bilbosbassbites.co.uk/esmeralda-al-di-meola/ Edited August 25 by Bilbo 1 Quote
Bilbo Posted August 27 Author Posted August 27 Back to the Bottom End, this is the complete Victor Bailey bass part for the tune 'Blue Victory' from a live concert by a band that I believe is led by guitarist Gyula Bados. A request from a regular. Decent 90s fusion with Bailey playing the lead and soloing. https://bilbosbassbites.co.uk/blue-victory-babos-bailey-carrington-jinda-szakcsi/ 2 Quote
Bilbo Posted August 28 Author Posted August 28 Another gorgeous Mike Stern ballad, the latest transcription is the complete Mark Egan performance of the tune 'Goodbye Again' from the 1986 Stern album, 'Upside Downside'. Not a massive challenge but interesting nevertheless. A beautifully constructed tune and a beautifully executed performance. https://bilbosbassbites.co.uk/goodbye-again-mike-stern/ 1 Quote
Bilbo Posted August 30 Author Posted August 30 Sorry it's slow week, guys, but I am away for a couple of weeks. I have a laptop with me but no bass so am not progressing much at the moment. 3 Quote

Bilbo Posted September 3 Author Posted September 3 The complete Anthony Jackson bass part for the tune 'Endeavour' from the 2012 Hiromi Trio Project album, 'Move'. Some challenging passages but it's do-able. https://bilbosbassbites.co.uk/endeavour-hiromi-uehara/ Quote
Bilbo Posted September 4 Author Posted September 4 A bit of personal nostalgia this morning, the complete Jon Camp bass part from the 1978 Renaissance single 'Northern Lights. It was on the band's album, 'A Song For All Seasons'. A lovely part. https://bilbosbassbites.co.uk/northern-lights-renaissance/ 2 Quote

Thanks very much Rob. 1 1 Quote
Bilbo Posted September 4 Author Posted September 4 A request off a Facebook transcription page, this is the complete Victor Wooten part for the tune 'Bil Mon' from the 2003 Bela Fleck and The Flecktones album, 'Little Worlds'. Lot of ghost notes so not an easy read. https://bilbosbassbites.co.uk/bil-mon-bela-fleck-and-the-flecktones/ 1 Quote
Bilbo Posted September 7 Author Posted September 7 A relatively easy read but a beautiful tune for all that. The intro solo and the bass part for the head of Kenny Wheeler's 'Gentle Piece' from the 1990 'Music for Large and Small Ensembles' (ECM). Dave Holland is the bass player. The solo is very freely interpreted and there is no real time feel so bear that in mind. https://bilbosbassbites.co.uk/gentle-piece-intro-and-head-part-kenny-wheeler/ Quote
Bilbo Posted Tuesday at 07:54 Author Posted Tuesday at 07:54 (edited) Not something I would normally gravitate towards but a friend needed the track for an educational project he is delivering. This is Paul Epworth's bass part for the Adele tune 'Rolling In The Deep' from her 2011 album, '21'. Simple but very effective. https://bilbosbassbites.co.uk/rolling-in-the-deep-adele/ Edited Tuesday at 07:55 by Bilbo 2 Quote
Bilbo Posted Tuesday at 21:16 Author Posted Tuesday at 21:16 A bit of Southern Rock today, the complete Leon Wilkerson bass part for the tune 'Tuesday's Gone' from the band's 1973 debut album, '(Pronounced 'Lĕh-'nérd 'Skin-'nérd)'. Surprisingly challenging read as it is in 6:8 (at least that's what I am hearing). https://bilbosbassbites.co.uk/tuesdays-gone-lynyrd-skynyrd/ 2 Quote
Bilbo Posted Thursday at 08:46 Author Posted Thursday at 08:46 From the 2012 Hiromi Trio Project album, 'Move', this is the complete Anthony Jackson performance of the tune 'Fantasy'. Exquisite but you will probably need a six string for this one to get the high notes. https://bilbosbassbites.co.uk/fantasy-hiromi-trio-project/ Quote
Bilbo Posted Thursday at 19:29 Author Posted Thursday at 19:29 The first 113 bars of the tune #Remembering' from the 2005 Avishai Cohen album, 'At Home'. I stopped before the solo as it gets really challenging in terms of the rhythms and, frankly, I bottled it. Otherwise, it is just a simple and pretty tune that is a great early exercise in note recognition on ledger lines. Slow and steady wins the race. https://bilbosbassbites.co.uk/remembering-avishai-cohen/ Quote
Bilbo Posted Friday at 08:02 Author Posted Friday at 08:02 The Alex Blake bass part for the tune '(You Must) Meet Benny Bailey' from the 1985 Grammy Award winning 'Vocalese' album. Great arranging and some great bass performances across the whole record but this one swings like a mofo! https://bilbosbassbites.co.uk/you-must-meet-benny-bailey-the-manhattan-transfer/ 1 Quote
Bilbo Posted yesterday at 10:53 Author Posted yesterday at 10:53 The opening tune of the 1994 Joe Henderson album 'Double Rainbow'. this is the complete Nico Assumpção bass part for the tune 'Felicidade'. Steady read but there are some fills that will trip you up due to the tempo. https://bilbosbassbites.co.uk/felicidade-joe-henderson/ Quote
Bilbo Posted 11 hours ago Author Posted 11 hours ago I would be surprised if there weren't previous transcriptions of this but, in celebration of the album's 50th anniversary, this is the complete Mike Rutherford bass part for the title track of the Genesis masterpiece, 'The Lamb Lies Down On Broadway'. Tougher than would would expect and all done with a pick. https://bilbosbassbites.co.uk/the-lamb-lies-down-on-broadway-genesis/ 2 Quote

dmccombe7 Posted 9 hours ago Posted 9 hours ago Was listening to Mockingbird by Barclay James Harvest from the Live Tapes album in the car the other day and thought that was an excellent bassline thru it. Just if you're looking for other suggestions Rob. Didn't see it on your website. Dave Quote
