TRADED no longer available! - Lakland 55-94 Deluxe USA 5-String Cherry Sunburst from 2002

Robert Schulenburg

Recommended Posts

A wonderful example for the more early Laklands (2002) - Only around 8.8lbs (4.0kg) a very light 55-94 Deluxe. I played this a couple of years as my main axe but really cared about it. You will find some tiny marks but nothing i can really get on a picture besides the marks at the headstock and some minor belt issues at the back (not viewable with a camera).

Bartolini Pickups - I have several videos with this bass on youtube, feel free to take a listen. The Recording Quality is quite simple (straight to a RME Babyface Interface) but i think you can really hear the really tight and resonant B-String as well as the overall round and warm sounding Bartolinis.

Youtube Lakland #2

Additional ones in my Youtube Channel.

Im living in Germany, Düsseldorf but willing to ship this Bass in a simple but solid Thomann Hardcase (which is broken at one side but good to go for a safe shipping trip).

2100 £

Im looking for a straight sale, tradewise i would only consider Alleva Coppolo Basses (with additional cash by my side) or Moollon Basses.

Feel free to ask me any Questions.

Bump on me!

This bass was mine for a couple of years. So far, I am almost tempted to buy it back. Super-light and in my opinion the best example of Lakland's outstanding quality back in the days. I've owned another Lakland from the same period, but not even close as good as that one.

Rob is a great guy, so buy with confidence! Good luck with the sale, somebody will be happy…

Words simply don't do this bass the justice it deserves, but hopefully pictures will help!
I didn't intend on buying it, I thought- I'll just try it...Famous last words!
The tone is crazy, unlike anything I've ever played. Super versatile, juicy as hell and slaps like a mother, but also cuts through a mix in a very tasteful way.
The sassafras top is a piece of art in itself.
I bought this bass new in January from Bass Direct.
You can get all the details on it here:
It's in exactly the same condition I bought it in, so I would call it new still. No dings or anything.
You could have supremely low action on this if that's your thing. It's currently setup somewhere between medium and low at the minute.
      Looking for £5k £4k.
Cash is king, but I'd consider a part trade for a Moollon Jazz V, or perhaps the right vintage Fender bass 60's era ideally.
I'm in Egham 10 min off the M25, welcome to come try it out.
You can hear the bass on this track, verse 2 is the most 'raw' bass tone in the track:
      Additional Details:
      -Body - Swamp Ash
-Top - Premium quality Tasmanian Sassafras ( £800 option)
      -Matching heal - (£50 option)
      -Matching head - (£50 option)

-Custom knobs in matching wood (£150 option)
-Neck - Ash with Titanium bars (£150 option)

The Bass is in good condition. Just some minor scratches and not much of fret wear. Good Sound and nice to play.
I replaced the original MEC EQ with a Glockenklang 2 Band EQ because the MEC made some horrible noise. I ordered a replacement part for the preamp and i send it with the bass.
The Bass is located in Hamburg/Germany. Shipping is possible (...of course!)

I'm evaluating reaper, about 10 days into the 60. One key thing I need, which I don't get in Studio One, is to make videos.
First off, I could not import vidoe, abut after importing some files (see otehr thread) it will import video.
I've successfully recorded a track with drums (programmed), bass, guitar, keys (Midi) and vox and applied a few effects. All rendered to WAV very well. So far so good.
I added some video clips, chopped them up to have changes at each bar. That worked well.
I rendered to video, and it looks OK, but no audio. Tried a few different formats, but no sound.
Hoping the Basschat brains can help 🤞

Due to the Covid-19 situation and severe back problems (66% officially disabled because of it) plus right shoulder injury (non-operable capsulitis from which, after more than 3 years, I will never fully recover), I'm selling all my basses over 4 kilos and also the ones I'm not really using. I've also considerably lowered the price for a quick sale.

What you see is what you get !
Look at the photos taken at different angles and under different lights to try to capture the real colour to see the real condition, which show only some little wear with a very few dings, crazy slapper scratches and other light scratches (no rear heavy marks or scratches), the most obvious mark being under the control cavity where the bass is left on a stand. The pickups are marked too, particularly the neck pickup under the E string as they were too close to the strings...

This bass is effectively a sister to my build diary for a PPJ5 in Surf Green that sold recently. I'll try to find some different pictures from the ones that I chose for that build diary. Feel Free to comment and ask questions along the way. I'll start with a recent photo, I'm just at the point of fitting the nut and John East UNI Pre active electronics, so this is nearly but not quite finished. It weighs in at exactly 4Kg with strings and everything else. It is a Chambered Swamp Ash body, Canadian Rock Maple asymmetric profile to the rear with a proprietary "thumb-groove" further slimming the fast "J"-like profile. It sports a compound radius Macassar Ebony fretboard 12"-20" radius with block inlays. The Daphne Blue Nitro has been lightly aged with a cryo-relic process. There is the usual high specification hardware and electronics from Hipshot, Bartolini and John East. This bass is available and I'll be shipping it out at the Black Friday week deal price from last year on her Surf Green sister. Complete with a branded Hiscox hard case and 2 years of free setup and service (fair use policy applies).
Please DM me if you might be interested.
EDIT: I have added a picture of this bass with the neck swapped out for a fretless one that I am making for Bassworks Artist Lee Pellington. Mwah for days!
Do head over to @bassworksluthiery on Facebook for other information, if you can't wait for me to populate this build diary over the next week!...
      Thanks for reading and enjoy!
