I've had a Rivoli which had no range or clarity, a Jack Cassady which I could never find a sound that fit what I was playing, a Warwick Rockbass that had little depth, an Eastwood classic (which as far as I remember was actually pretty great but it was almost a decade ago) and this guy; the best of the bunch by miles. I just don't get on with short scales and I need to make peace with that. Very versatile, sounds great, huge even. Growl and depth aplenty! I'd keep it for that reason alone if I was in and out of recordings all day but I can't justify keeping it at present and it pains me because my heart pangs every time I pick it up or just stare at it longingly from across the room because that's a totally normal thing to do... Comes strung with TI flats, also have the original rounds that came with (which are basically new). Only ever used at home and rehearsal. Purchased as refurbished from the states. You'll see on the back of the headstock that one of the pegs is ever so slightly wonky, doesn't affect playability but I'm guessing that's why it was sold as refurbished and stamped as 'used' on the back of the headstock. It's barely visible though. Hard case included, still has the tag on it. Keys too (allen and for the case). Trials welcome, collection preferred. Will post at buyers expense and risk. Only the high end Guild acoustics are made in the USA. But for what it's worth, they're owned by Fender so for any wondering whether they're any good, the answer is a firm 'hell yes'. If you've played a Korean made hollow body of any kind you'll know the quality. Plus, Korea have a history of making hollow body guitars second only to those made in 'Murrica. But you're on Basschat. von Braun Posted February 4, 2018 Share Posted February 4, 2018 What didn't you like about the Rivoli...apart from the lack of range and clarity! They were a bit muddy as stock. I had one in the '80s (a 60s tobacco burst model) which had been modded by a previous owner with a Di Marzio P-Bass PU in the bridge position. It looked a bit s**t but it balanced out the big old mudbucker nicely. Sold it to a bloke in some Devon blues band to pay some bills before going on a Navy holiday....so rock and roll. I had a 90s reissue, it played real nice (even for a short scale, but I think it was technically mid scale) but the stock pup was a POS. Maybe just due to age. Replaced with a Dimarzio Model One in the hopes of getting a little more range but still nothing. The baritone switch just made it even boomier so my sonic options were BOOM or BOOOOOOOOM. SO in terms of low end, yeah, if that's all I needed, perfect! I thought about modding it and having it routed to put in a bridge pup but figured best to leave well alone and let it go to someone else who might love it for what it was. Now, THIS guy... he has all the versatility and clarity the Rivoli was missing, just I've been playing an AVRI '56 P for so long now, my hands feel more comfortable when they're stretched out. This one feels just a touch smaller than a jazz (you may have noticed I'm also selling a jazz =D ) and I want to be able to switch between basses without an adjustment period. RANT OVER. FANX.
