It has the White Pearl finish with matching headstock, white scratchplate and maple block-and-bound neck. This bass was made in 2008. I bought it from lowregisterhead in 2011 and it has been a superb workhorse. The neck is fast and easy to play and I have only had to have it set up once in 5 years; it is solid with clear notes throughout and no buzzing with a low/medium action. It is in very good condition, there are 3 or 4 tiny marks on the back but you have to look very closely indeed. The neck is starting to age nicely and a flame figure is coming through the maple grain. The bass has a John East custom preamp fitted by Martin Peterson at The Gallery. It is a Deluxe spec pre and the bass has been fitted with a side jack. So you have active/passive switch, bass/midsweep/treble controls, pan, master vol, flat switch and a passive tone control or VTC. It is strung with steel roundwounds 45-130 which are worn in but not dead. Strap pins are Schallers. Tuners are Hipshot Ultralites. Weight just over 9lbs, perfectly balanced mid-weight bass. I can do the bass for £900 with an unused Ritter soft case as pictured (it's a case meant for an acoustic bass but does the job). Or £850 on its own without the case. It is pickup only, located at a lockup in Staples Corner, N London. Or could meet in Finchley N3. lowregisterhead Posted June 8, 2016 Posted June 8, 2016 (edited) My old bass! I still have his older black sparkle brother, which gets gigged regularly. Was it really 5 years ago?? I'm very tempted to buy it back from you, but I'm currently trying to shift a couple of others... GLWTS Ben! Edited June 8, 2016 by lowregisterhead
epiphonesteinberger Posted June 8, 2016 Author Posted June 8, 2016 Nice one mate! That black one was a beauty too, fantastic basses.
kasthebass Posted June 8, 2016 Posted June 8, 2016 Stunning; sounds huge on the youtube links you posted. Would you ship to Holland? In a case ofcourse
bigsmokebass Posted June 28, 2016 Posted June 28, 2016 If this is now an active bass, where's the battery compartment?
epiphonesteinberger Posted June 28, 2016 Author Posted June 28, 2016 Its just like the standard J-Retro: you unscrew the 3 screws on the front of the control plate and pull the preamp up out of the bass to change the battery.
kasthebass Posted July 6, 2016 Posted July 6, 2016 These are great basses for the price. If I had the money, I would buy it on the spot! Strange you did not sell it yet
JulesParpBass Posted July 7, 2016 Posted July 7, 2016 What a beautiful bass. Im going over to London from Ireland on the 14th August to buy a bass. If i don't find what I'm looking for in The Gallery I'll give you a shout.
