I saw Norman a couple of weeks ago playing with Wilko. A fantastic bass player!!

The last time I saw Norman was with Loving Awareness during the 70´s at the old Marquee. Which was just before they changed their name to the Blockheads :-)

It was the first time I heard an Ampeg SVT (with two 8x10 cabs) An amazing sound, and a really tight and musical band.

This time round Norman was using a rented SVT with some kind of preamp pedal. From where I was standing it looked like a Sansamp pedal – any ideas??

Seen Norman play with Wilko a number of times when I worked at a venue; they toured by car rather than bus so he generally used a house bass amp or whatever he could scrounge off one of the other bands. He always sounded fantastic regardless of whatever plastic nonsense he ended up playing through.

I remember seeing Norman and Wilko and a drummer whose name I cant recall at an outdoor Blues festival here in N.Ireland many years ago.I remember him struggling to get the sound he wanted through a TE stack and took some time till he got it exactly as he wanted it.His bass was a J-type in a sort of metallic pink colour. They played about 1/2 an hour until the heavens opened and blew rain onto the stage so they had to stop.I managed a quick 'great gig,Norman.Sorry about the N.Ireland weather' as he came past. All he said was 'Cheers'.Still the fact that he said it TO ME,made my day.

The thing is that at the gig in Gothenberg Norman was using a preamp/DI pedal. I saw a few pictures from a gig in Barcalona about a week later and from what I can make out it looked like a Sansamp pedal. It makes sense I suppose getting a constant sound while using different rigs. Does anyone know what pedal Norman uses?

It probably won´t help my sound at all me not being Norman - my playing is probably more like Wisdoms than Watt-Roys.
