Setting up my dean taxi Hollowbody bass. How difficult is it ?

Recommended Posts

Changed strings on this a couple of times .
When purchased , the action was on the high side . The setup now isn't that good .
I was wondering : can this bass feel great like an ordinary bass?(that's possibly a daft question)
How difficult is it to set up?
Am I better off taking it to a tech?

I initially bought it as an ornament , with view to occasional use. Now I would like to use it a lot more.
Please advise
Cheers
( I know how to adjust truss rod, but that's as far as it goes )

Looks like one of those bass versions of a tune-o-matic bridge. You adjust the string height by raising/lowering either side of the bridge and that's about it - no individual string height adjustment. Intonation screws are in the side of the bridge facing the bridge pickup.

If you know about truss rods then you can set up a bass - the truss rod is the least well understood part of the set up procedure, the one most shrouded in doubt and fear!
