NBD - Carvin BB75 fretless

I've never bothered doing one of these NBD threads before, but you don't see that many Carvins around and the seller's pics do show off its good looks rather well.

I've been looking out for an unlined fretless fiver for about a year and was hoping that a secondhand Ibanez SRF705 might come up for sale here or elsewhere, but no luck. There have been a few other candidates that have aroused my interest, but I haven't pulled the trigger until now.

I saw this on eBay and from there found the seller's own site where it was advertised £50 cheaper than the BIN. He's based a few miles along the coast from me, so yesterday afternoon I hopped on a train and went along 'just to have a look and check out the string spacing'. Needless to say I walked away with it.

As others have noted, the one thing you can say about Carvins is the build quality is very good. This has an asymmetric neck (NT) which is a joy to play, very nice ebony fingerboard, it's light and, thanks to that long upper horn, balances beautifully.

The roundwounds it came with are nothing to write home about, but I'll be putting a set of nickel Elixirs on tomorrow and getting a chance to hear it sing properly.
