epic576 Posted July 8, 2015 Share Posted July 8, 2015 Hey guys, I thought I'd find much better answers asking on here than trawling through loads of spec sheets and YT vids.. Basically I'm looking at finally getting a head and cab rig. My trusty Laney though a loyal servant for practice, now nowhere near pumps out the wattage needed for gigging. After some listening, demos etc I really like the sound of Harkte gear but of course willing for other suggestions. As I am a student (poor so sadly no Markbass) I would like something lightweight and compact as space is limited in my digs and the boot of my car, Thoughts would be very much appreciated AJ Quote Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...

Hartke is edging towards the more modern bright sound and the Rumble stuff more towards a traditional SVT style tone and may be a good upgrade from your Laney. Lots of bargains to be had secondhand with Genz Benz gear being an absolute steal for the price it goes for. How strong and fit are you (which will affect what you call "portable"). Oh, and sorry to be pedantic - but what you need is volume, not wattage (i.e. power). The two are related, but not directly. Iain Posted July 9, 2015 Share Posted July 9, 2015 I'd look for used gear that would otherwise be above your budget - if you get a Markbass or Barefaced cab then you're laughing. Saying that the markbass stuff is pretty cheap new now with the exchange rate.
