Hi.
I am new to this forum..it looks very cool and informative.
I am looking for a parametric Eq. I have seen a couple that are within my budget, but one in particular has caught my eye. It is the DTAR Equinox..it seems designed for acoustic guitars..is there any reason why it couldn't be used for bass? Does anyone actually use one already. The other ones I have seen are the Presonus EQ3B..3-band parametric, and a 5 band Behringer (non tube).
Any input /advice would be brilliant..my budget will stretch to about 200 quid.

Hi there,

Welcome to the forum. I have an equinox for sale at the moment. Great piece of kit and works brilliantly for double bass. Being desiged for piezo pickups it has a very high input impedence (3.9M ohm if I rember correctly) so should work fine with passive bass guitars but may not work properly with active ones. What instrument are you intending on using with it?

Chris

Hi Chris,
thanks for the reply. I have a variety of basses and was hoping to be able to use them all through the same unit...the idea being that it would be cheaper than getting a preamp installed in each of my basses ...which would cost a lot. Most of my basses are active.

In that case why not try a dedicated outboard bass pre like the EBS Microbass or the Aguilar tone hammer. There's loads of info on the site on the microbass and the Aguilar is soon to be released. Neither have full parametric eq but I've never felt the need for it with electric bass. I'm quite interested in the Aguilar myself, it would save me bringing my rig to a lot of gigs.

If you bought my Microbass ( http://basschat.co.uk/index.php?showtopic=26040 ) then I could buy Chris's Equinox. Everyone would be happy. You knows it!
