Good evening, all...
I have decided to promote, each in turn, the compositions presented in the monthly BC Composition Challenge. I shall give my own, personal, view of the piece, in the hope that at least some will be inspired to give the work a listen, and perhaps a vote as their favourite. All the pieces can be heard here...

An off-beat drum beat precedes a wandering keyboard line, backed by a minimalist bass. There is subdued revelry and socialising in the background. A rather strained voice sings the praises of the freedom felt in this week-end release from work pressure at the local 'hop', despite the onset of advancing years. A harmonised chorus leads us to an interlude of hand-claps, building back up to the next verse; an incitation to dance, despite all the discomforts, and enjoy the nostalgic memories of past glories. Another chorus, and a percussive 'outtro' take us to the final 'shoop' of the evening.
We become accustomed very quickly to the unusual beat, and our concentration is centred on picking out the lyrics; effort well rewarded. There is a hint of 'cheesiness' in the keys, entirely in keeping with the narration. One can sympathise with the subject of the ditty, past hero of the quick-step, now throwing cares to the wind in what could soon be a last fling. Long may the song continue...
