timmo
Looking at buying a stand for my bass, and seems a lot of them are not suitable for nitro laquer. I don`t think my bass body has such a finish, but not sure if the neck has. How can you tell please?
HowieBass
Check with the manufacturer of your bass and/or tell us what you have (exact make/model/year) as others here might well have the same instrument and will know. I think you only get nitro finishes on higher end basses these days.
timmo
OK, thanks. A good, obvious suggestion.Checked with the Clover website, and it appears it is a polyester finish, which is good from a stand point of view.
HowieBass
One thing I would warn about is leaving a bass on a stand in the sun where you get a fair bit of light hitting the neck because over time the neck will probably darken a little (almost like a sun tan) but the part of the stand that holds the neck steady will remain pale so you'll have a lighter stripe there. Fuzzbass2000
Looks like you're ok, but FWIW, the Hercules stands have been ok with my nitro guitars. They tend to have really dense foam in the places where the instrument rests... it tends to be the cheaper stands with the flappier rubber sleeves that cause the problems. if in doubt, use a couple of cotton socks. jmchich
Do I have to wash the socks first?
Fuzzbass2000
Depends where they've been...
