Looking at the result, I think this wood needs almost no refinish at all. I wonder what the black painted gold hardware would look like close up though. Does "TL" stand for "Tim Landers", which makes it a 1990s Made in USA bass? The Jeff Berlin model is a little cracker and like hens teeth now, the Rudy Sarzo model they made is fabulously easy to play too (in fact if they'd ever offered that as a 5 string my gas may cured sooner). Clearly the playing and recording are both significant variables, but I didn't think the sound was as good as a T40. To my eyes, that looks like some quality wood, however. kodiakblair Posted August 14, 2014 Share Posted August 14, 2014 Looks like the 2nd generation. Those are VFL pickups not the Super Ferrites like the T 40 or the 1st gen.
