first of all, sorry if i have posted this in the wrong category!

I'm looking to upgrade the pots in my jap Fender Jaguar Deluxe. the pots in there are awful. i don't know how i have put up with them this far. the volume in particular is bad. it is quite up until about 7 then there is a massive jump in volume until full . what pots would you recommend for me? i have heard good things about CTS but I'm more confused by the 250K / 500 K argument.

any help would be appreciated!

:)

I just had two 250k Fender CTS installed into a Japanese P, as part of its makeover. I believe 250k is the standard on most Fenders, certainly what my two Precisions have. I got them from Thomann - they were something like £4.80 each! Well worth it - they are the ones that come as standard on US Fenders.

If it`s the active model, the Fender service diagram (link below) shows a 250 on volume, and a 500 on the bass/treble control.

its passive with an active eq that can be activated... but i hardly use it. the active section is just a bass and treble boot on its own so could i just get away with a 250 pot for tone?

Probably, the higher the number the more treble is available. If wanting a more traditional Fender tone the 250 should be fine. It won`t do the bass any harm if you try it and find out it`s not what you want.
