Moos3h Posted December 3, 2013 Share Posted December 3, 2013 Hi folks, Decided to pull the trigger on a Genz Benz Contour 500 combo and extension cab, so let's timeline this: Sunday evening - GAS kicks in, exploratory email sent to Mark at Bassdirect.co.uk querying a price match Sunday evening - SAME evening, response comes back - we are go! Plans made to call in on Monday Monday morning - I call the shop and run through a few questions etc - get a bit of advise over exactly which model of extension cab to go for - advised combos are out of stock but expected early this week Monday lunchtime - Missed call and answerphone message to say the combos are in and have been sent straight out to me Tuesday morning - Combo arrived, despite the carriers best attempts to destroy it the box took the hit and the amp is perfect! Fan-tastic. I've left a similar review in the past for Bassgear who are also excellent but I have to say that this is the kind of service that encourages me greatly that the 'specialist retailers' are THE places to shop for awesome customer service and advice. lou24d53 Posted December 3, 2013 Share Posted December 3, 2013 (edited) Did they have the Contour extension cabs to match? I didn't think those were available in the UK. I never saw them on the BD website either. I went for the smaller Focus 112t for mine, suits my needs anyway. Edit: Just checked, and see them, I don't mind them being there a couple of months ago when I was looking! ToolOfIgnorance Posted December 3, 2013 Share Posted December 3, 2013 My dealings with Mark at BassDirect have been awesome. He's really opened my ears to bass tone and spent a lot of time with me when I've been in there talking through various combinations of amps/cabs/pickups/preamps/basses........... It's fair to say that since going down there, I've had a lot of compliments over my sound and I have been able to model my tone so that I can really hear my mistakes which has unsurprisingly helped my playing!!!! It's like someone has taken the mufflers off my ears. And always fantastic service so I won't hesitate in going down there whenever there's an opportunity.
