Hi
I'm looking to fit a Schaller bass bridge to my MIM Jazz. The Schaller has only 3 holes so can I just line up the middle hole and drill 2 new ones in line with the rear of the old bridge or do I need to measure precisely for the new bridge and drill 3 new holes? My reading of this suggest use the middle hole and drill 2 new ones at 35".

The first cust. review about a Precision replacement sounds promising in that respect, but I don't see anywhere saying it's a direct retro-fit. So like when I replaced a Tele bridge to an ashtray one; I'd have lo-tack masking tape either as accurately as possible to both sides of the bridge to get it centred, then mark the positions of the E & D saddles. Only drill extra holes when you're certain you're right - loose stringing up should confirm that. Use the marks on the tape for position of the new bridge allowing as much forward/backward saddle movement as possible.

Are you talking about the Schaller 3D? If so, doesn't it match up directly with holes 1, 3 and 5 on a standard Fender bass?

No it's a Schaller roller http://www.allparts.uk.com/online-shop/guitar-bass-parts/bridges-parts-tailpieces/bridges/bass-bridges/bass-bridges-4-string-singles/schaller-bass-bridge-w-rollers-2-p-1718.html where only the centre hole lines up with the standard jazz bridge.
