How much to refret?

Does anyone have experience of having a once fretted bass that has been converted to a fretless, converted back? If so, any idea how much it costs?

Thanks

Assuming its a Rosewood it should be around £100 - £150 for a refret. But it depends how the fret slots have been filled when converting to fretless, it may be more work.

I paid Bernie Goodfellow £200 for a Maple neck refret and he re-laquered the sanded area and matched the colour of the 30 year old Nitro finish so you can't even tell its been done. That was a lot more work that a standard rosewood neck refret.

Hi. Apologies for being obvious but is it really worth the hassle / cost ? What bass is it ? And might the neck / fretboard might not be compromised by the whole defret / refret thing.
Wouldn't it be a better choice to buy a fretted bass that you really like or a fretted neck to swap out ?
