SOLD Fylde Hand Built Electric Guitar. This is an extremely rare guitar built around 1978 by Roger Bucknall of Fylde Guitars. There is little known about these rare guitars. These guitars are rumoured to be prototypes for the Pack Leader, I doubt this as there are too many differences. Briefly this guitar has:

Solid Mahogany body and neck

Set Neck

Ebony Board

Heavily Sculpted Body and Neck

EMG Active Pick ups

Schaller Floyd Rose Bridge

Schaller Tuning Keys

Hand Built

Hard Case
I have spoken to Roger Bucknall regarding this guitar and he states that fewer than 30 were made due to the high costs. The Body and Neck are very heavily sculpted and it feels surprisingly light. I have had the electronics checked out and new battery cases were installed and a more reliable locking system for the cover made. The guitar was also refretted and set up with 10s with a nice low action. This guitar has sustain that a Les Paul can only dream of having. As this guitar is over 30 years old there are minor marks to the body, nothing serious though. The guitar is complete with a home made hard case with Brass fittings.

I received the following email from Roger himself. This puts to rest all the theories and speculation.

Hi Patrick,

Well, as I am still alive and still making guitars, perhaps I should straighten all this up.

This guitar is not a prototype Pack Leader, but there is a connection.
The PL's were designed and made first-I dont have my notes to hand, but certainly around 1978. Pack Leader didnt survive, because the guitars were too difficult and expensive to make. The Fylde Electric took over when PL closed and used a lot of the tooling etc that I had made for the PL. It has the same body shape and contours, but with heavily rounded corners rather than bindings. Everything else about it was an attempt to maker it easier to make but add value with active pickups etc. It was made up till 1980. Great guitars.

Hope that clarifies everything
