modded streamer (now with samples)

a couple of weeks ago i decided i'd try fitting an active circuit to my warwick streamer std, and bought an artec se2-a - it's a stack knob bass & treble control so i could just replace the existing passive tone control.

so, i did that bit of techery this week, and was very impressed by the artec eq - the bass boost is very nice...warm rather than boomy except at the very top of the range. the treble rolls of nicely as well - quite like a passive control.

i'd hacked the artec circuit a bit to fit around the existing push-pull switch on the volume control for single/double coil switching and it was a bit messy, and as i'd found an on-on-on mini switch in my bits box (well, one of them !) i decided to do a full series/single/parallel switching job as detailed here.

it meant putting a hole in the bass for the switch, but it turned out rather well i think

the choice of sounds is great - i'd already replaced the stock MEC pickup with a bartolini and i'd found the humbucking tone a bit full on, and preferred the single coil sound, which is still there, but the parallel tone is lovely - thick without being dull.

anyway - i'd recommend artec eq's if yyou don't want to splash out on emg or similar.

ok, here's some samples !

http://soundcloud.com/moltendog/streamer-mods

first three are running through the pickup switching:

1.series
2.single coil (neck side)
3. parallel

and then, staying with the parallel setting, some examples of the artec eq

1.bass boosted by ~1/3, treble flat
2. bass boosted by ~1/3, treble boosted by ~1/3
3. bass boosted by ~3/4, treble boosted by ~1/3
