Going from 4 piece to 3 piece

vocal harmonies are an amazing thickening/interest=piquing device

I'm not sure how it'd go down in your pub band but i've always found that my EHX big muff combined with double stops thickens up the texture no end - this does lead to a little bit of the bottom dropping out though....

Also pick your songs carefully. Our 4-piece became a 3-piece for a year or so and I found it very enjoyable/scary in equal measures. Doesn't half make you think about what you play and when you play it!

When's your next gig? I'll come along if possible...

Thanks for all the advice guys, 1st rehearsal next Wednesday.

Next Friday, 1st 3 piece gig, Fleece in Ashton in Makerfield, then it's pretty much one per week until Christmas.
Bloody hell, just checked BBGM MYspace in my sig. 7 left for this year, loony tunes drummer has already booked 10 for next year and he's only just started :) .

Thanks for all the brilliant advice folks.
As an update, 1st gig last night after drummers hol, three of us ready to give it some.
Guitarist who had flounced out turned up an hour after the rest of us.
We played better than we have ever done (IMO) so looks like we are still a 4 piece.

At the moment :)
