Leemo
Hi guys , I have an Ashdown ABM500 15" combo, bought 3 years ago, with the speaker gone down in it. Am I best replacing it with the same, new Ashdown speaker, or, I have been recommended as an alternative a Eminence Kappa 15lf ?. The cost of each speaker is very similar, so that has no bearing on my decision, I just want the best quality & useage life. Many thanks for your thoughts, Leemo
discreet
I've got the 12" Kappa in my BFM cab and it is totally the business.
Big_Stu
FWIW - I put two Eminence Delta 15"s into a Marshall 2 x 15 & it is the bollox! I don't think you could go wrong with any of the Eminence line
LawrenceH
Careful which model you get. The kappa lf-2 has a really pronounced response peak around 1.2Khz then drops like a stone above that. The lf-a peaks higher up, around 2k and is as a result is probably more usable as a standalone speaker.
Mr. Foxen
Pretty sure the Kappa is a bass speaker. The Delta 12 worked in the little ported EB150-12 I had. The Kappa is almost definitely bad. Line and stuff the box while the speaker is out, makes a surprising improvement.
eddiehoffmann
These are the speakers in my Orange OBC115 cabs. Very punchy but still retaining all that bass juiciness. I really love these cabinets. I'm sure the speakers play a big role in the way they perform.
