Played bass in my mid to late teens in local bands and then jumped ship and spent nearly 15 years as a drummer. I then lost interest in playing about 3 years ago and now here I am back playing bass with a Buzzcocks tribute band. When I said I'd join the band I thought "how hard can it be to play Buzzcocks songs?"...well...I had a shock to say the least! On first listen they're all over the place but I've managed to pick them up ok and I'm having a great time playing them. I have had a 5 string bass for about 4 years but the B string wasn't getting used enough and isn't very punk, so I've recently bought a Shine 4 string Telecaster style bass. I know they're budget guitars (I was on a budget) but I've had it set up by Peter Allen (highly recommended) and now I have a cracking bass that, including the set up, has cost just over £200.
