Benplaysbass Posted August 15, 2011 Share Posted August 15, 2011 After a bit of advice. Really need to change the strings on my Epi Thunderbird. This might sound really bad but I haven't changed them since I bought it, so no idea whats on it or the gauge or anything. I know its a bit of a trial and error thing when it comes to finding the strings you like. But would be very grateful for some ideas of where I should start. Too much choice.....round wound, flat wound, nickel plated or stainless steel. Shopping is supposed to be easy. It is after all yet another bank holiday out here in France. Play in a covers band doing mostly rock and roll(trying to get them into some more modern stuff) But also play a fair bit of Led Zepp and Deep purple. Not sure about what sound I want, could do with a bit of life in it but without losing the bottom end. Perhaps any new set of strings will give this. They sound good, are readily available and they sort of sit right in the middle of the market as it were.
