daz
I aquired (£26 ebay) this old Hohner B bass with a Steinberger drop D bridge, yonks ago. (first pic below) The electrics on it are kaput, two knobs are missing and a switch is broken off. Is this switch an on off for active/passive or just on/off for the bass? The rear knob is a double, like the one in the below pic, would that be for individual tone on each pup ? Yes as you can see i have no knowlege of these matters. I belive the original knobs and switch looked like those in the second pic below from a more recent 5 string Hohner. Were is the best place to aquire some replacement parts ? Your advice is much appreciated. King Tut
The switch is active/passive and I think the dual concentric knob is bass cut and boost (big wheel) treble cut and boost (little wheel).

I have one of these; converted it to a fretless a few years back. Still love it after all these years
geoffbyrne
There's an Artec pre that fits that, although if you want to keep the switch you'll need to do some experimental wiring. I have one in the drawer I'll be putting in my B Bass V shortly. Reports on these suggest they are pretty decent for the money - Paul Rose used to import these, you might try PMing him to see if he has any left, or buy from Ebay. daz
thanks for the replies. I have taken a pic of the broken switch which i have undone from the top. The botton on the top has broken off. The writing on it was not too clear till i made a high contrast negative image. Where could I get another of these switches from ? King Tut
I had a B Bass 6. Didn't like the pre so converted it to passive - otherwise a very nice bass!
geoffbyrne
Are there 6 'legs' on that? You can find thos with various switch configs (on/off, on/off/on, on/on/on) in most electronics shops & on Ebay. G.

(in case my repairs dont work, ill try something simpler, as long as the pups will still work) yes i think the switch has 6 legs on it, not sure why.I cant find anyone who has an original old B bass like this one to tell me. They seem very scarce these days? Edited September 24, 2010 by daz
King Tut
Wire her up something like this - obviously you'll probably need new pots and the switch won't be used . . .
