mcnach Posted September 16, 2010 Share Posted September 16, 2010 I'm going to be purchasing one of these beasts very soon, and I am not entirely convinced by that aluminium scratchplate... so I'm considering replacing it. But I can't find anywhere to buy one. Any ideas? It's like the standard Stingray plate, but obviously routed for a 5-string pickup and a bit wider. budget bassist Posted September 16, 2010 Share Posted September 16, 2010 I think you would have to get one custom made from somewhere like sims. However, the new classic stingray 5 has an oval shape pickguard same as the SUB 5, as opposed to the standard SR5 pickguard, have an ask on the EBMM forum, as they may fit, same as the standard 'ray pickguard fits on a SUB 4, and if so, you may be able to order one from strings 'n' things (official UK EBMM dealer). You definitely can't order the pickguards for the SUB 5 (or you couldn't before the classic 'ray 5, if my assumption is correct). Quote Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...
ezbass Posted September 16, 2010 Share Posted September 16, 2010 You could just buy a standard one and then use the vile aluminium one as a template for the hole. I had to do this to replace the p/g on my Ray34 (different p/up shape). A craft knife, a large nail file, time and a bit of patience and you should have the perfect job.
