1. I had an epiphany regarding this subject a couple of years ago after starting this thread - http://basschat.co.uk/topic/128886-bass-poll-your-opinion-greatly-appreciated/ I regularly use cheap Richwood basses with The Animals. Last year when we toured with Steve Cropper he showed an interest in my bass as he loved the tone - it was one of my Richwoods!! More recently I designed a bass and had it hand built at the cost of £2000. I'm now coming to realise I STILL prefer the sound of the Richwoods!!!! The only issue you might face is the cheap guitar prejudice some people (usually guitarists?!) have. One guitarist I work with says he'd ask for his money back if he went to see a big name artist and they weren't playing Gibsons or Fenders. This REALLY winds me up, but it's out there unfortunately!

 3.
Hi Scott, thanks for posting this. Unfortunately I'm getting "an error occurred" when I press play. ps - any tips for avoiding sympathetic harmonics when slapping? I'm using the bony part of my thumb, I'm whipping it off after the slap and I'm attacking at the edge of the fretboard, but still getting an infuriating "HOOO".
Hi - sorry for the slow response!! Did you manage to get the video to play in the end? Re the sympathetic harmonics whilst slapping - this does happen especially on a 24 fret bass. Usually in the context of a bass line it's not a big issue. You can improve it sometimes by slapping slightly more 'on' the finger board. Could you post a quick sound clip or send one (or a video) to [email protected] ? Ta Scott.

 6. It's with a heavy heart that I'm selling my Eastwood Airline Map Bass in Seafoam Green. It's an absolutley gorgeous instrument and the level of craftsmanship/build quality is outstanding. Will accept £300. I've fitted my usual EMG BTC Control to it which can be removed if buyer requests. The bass is immaculate in condition and I paid nearly £600 for it earlier this year. Unfortunately new car forces sale :-( Here's a link to the Eastwood page on this bass - http://www.eastwoodg...p-bass-seafoam/ And here's a pic of me playing the actual bass for sale with The Animals in Kazakhstan the other week...

Here are a few of my free video lessons which should give you an idea of my teaching style. 17. Good morning!! Just got back yesterday from a short tour with the Animals and found myself too tired to do anything except sit at the computer lol! Sooooo... I decided to create a 'Free Bass Lesson Library' type of thing on my website. It puts all of me free bass lesson videos into one easy to navigate place. I'll keep updating it as I make new videos. Just one very small ask - If you like or find any of my lessons useful PLEASE, PLEASE, PLEASE share in at least one place (Facebook, Twitter, Email etc). It takes me hours to produce these free videos and any help spreading the word is VERY MUCH appreciated!!! :-) http://www.scott-whi...lesson-library/
