  1. Probably room reflections. If it sounds fine through headphones (where room reflections won't play a part) then I'm sure it must be fine.
Double check though through an amp somewhere else though.

Doesn't make sense to me that only selected notes are quiet on 1 string and it be because of upgrades, it'd be more logical for the whole length of string to be quiet.

  2. There isn't a whole lot or difference between having the tube on over the SS but I always preferred it, the extra harmonic distortion you get I could never hear through anything other than a bass cab. Just livens up the bass more make it pop more on the top. No colour per se but tubes introduce harmonic distortion which I translate as makes the harmonics louder so in turn makes the bass sound louder too.

Maybe a rack pre? Get the rack ears for the F1 and you still essentially have one box. Once it's all racked up in a rack bag or something they never have to move or be unplugged.
The ampeg rack pres I always liked, loads of tubes in those.

I need a PBass in my life mate, it's between shipping in a G&L LB100 from the states or a local 1978/79 fender.
The sabre sounds amazing . . Honestly nails the pre EB stingray sound. Mad for letting it go at this price.

I thought there was a 1000 here for sale? Prefer it over a traditional P

If I didn't gave my G&L and an ACG on order then I'd grab this no doubt. Market is crap

The addition of another Midget or a Compact should mean a fair reduction in the need for this. I found that using the Compact on its own my volume was way higher than when using the two together.

Might be more to do with it being higher up and closer to your ear. And sounding bigger overall because of more speakers.
My Super compact is insane in the air, but on the floor I need to have the amp on a lot.

  5. The markbass is a fairly neutral starting point in terms of tone, so personally I don't see anything wrong with keeping the head and using either the zoom or BDDI for something different, at least then you can turn it off if a few weeks later you decide you hate the colour.
You can't really turn an amps tonal characteristics off.

  6. Who is the manufacturer?

    My choice.

    J - 1.5 nut - Inca Silver - blocks and bound
    J - 1.5 nut - fiesta red - dots

If natural was an option then I'd choose that over the red. Nothing else really tickles me at the minute, and I have weakness for natural ash and maple neck, with black hardware.

For anyone who doesn't know, let me tell you that pickup is in the sweet spot! GLWTS

Indeed, I havent done any measuring myself but it is in that spot.
Tone controls allow for lots of sounds including classic Ray tones.

Not had a chance to check it yet but going to try running my new VT Bass DI straight into the effects in on mine for giggles. The pedal has a switchable 20db boost on the output, will that help? Or maybe be too hot?

    You'll find out won't you?
    Hahaha

  9. Price £550 POSTED, £520 COLLECTED.

To begin my cull in perpetration of a new house, a new ACG order coming in September and various other bits I have the aforementioned for sale.

Swamp ash body in natural with a maple neck. That's about it, a fantastic solid bass in good codition nothing to write home about. Wide range of tones available.
Weighs maybe 9 1/2 lbs. Just restrung with D'addario Prosteels 45-105, and setup that I need to tweak since rest ringing as the action is a little hieght right now, just over 2mm clearance.

Comes with G&L hard case, seen better days but does the job, strap locks and a padded leather strap, neither of which has seen much use.

    Postage included in the price.
£520 to anyone willing to collect.
