When can i buy one? Iv got around £300 because thats how much i suspect they will be but the shipping date on thomann keeps being pushed back and there arnt any UK sites with them on. Does anyone know anything?

Thats very strange, i played the same model at PMT Birmingham and it was by a long shot the best jazz bass i have ever played. When a crap and heavey 76 jazz costs £1700 and an origional pre cbs jazz bass costs £5k+, i thought the custom shop was amazing value and the one i played was exceptionaly well made. Just makes you realise you always need to try it before you buy, because no two basses will be the same

Fender Custom shop manufacture a classic 5 string jazz bass but their over £1500 so i don't know what he hopes to achieve by 99p ...... Personaly i think it looks a heap of junk

Gibson guitar polish for the finished bodies, beeswax for the warwick body and lemon oil for the maple necks

Hi, im desperate to learn double bass as i love the sound and idea of playing one. However, im yet to buy one as at the minute their too expensive and iv always been fearful of playing one for the first time in a shop. Is there anyone on here near Guildford or central london that teaches begginner students? cheers, ollie

Best non vintage or custom shop fender jazz IMO, id have it over US 75 RI ...... jus need to get one before they ruin it!

I really liked it, standard pop song which feels very relaxing and natural on the ear. I think this fits in with modern times more than their old 90's and naughties stuff. Only thing is with crap like "GayLS" in the charts how can any decent band fit in anymore. Still i liked it and im sure the new album will have lots of different styles to suit everyone. It was interesting that at Hard rock calling 60% of the set was old 90's songs, maybe a sign.

Its a good point about trying them out first, do you know of any good string shops that stock cheaper DB's? in England

Iv decided its time to start learning the double bass so for that i feel i need one. And iv been looking around and iv found i can get something like a second hand stentor or zeller DB for around £400-500. Or i can save up a bit and get a slightly older German DB for between £1000-1200. Is it really going to benefit me as a begginner to go for the German ones? Also are there any cheep DB's i should avoid? Cheers, Ollie

With my bands in the past weve done synchronised busted jumps... try to get the band involevd and tell them if bassists are doing it its definately cool and not just showing off

Back to the title of shortage of bass players. I had never been around more than 2 until i came to ACM and we were all finding it a bit strange to be in a room of 12 or so bassists, compared to the stupid amount of bad guitarists that there are. Maybe more serious musicians do head towards bass and drums

I was really pleasently suprised by this bass. I didnt think the neck was too thin and the build quality seemed a good standard. Also the sound was fantastic for the money. I managed to get a fantastic jazz sound all across the neck which isnt achievable with many high end basses, i liked it much better than the american deluxe i used to own. But........ I too am thinking about a custom classic shuker jazz bass. Dont know why but the reviews give me GAS
