Im pretty new to the world of home recording, and to be honest a little overwhelmed with how much kit there is out there, which leads up to my question! I want something to record with....ideally with the ability to record at least 4 tracks simultaneously, i have been looking at usb desks but it seems that only some of these (although they have 10/14 tracks on them) will only record on a couple at a time....i have a pretty quick pc and can usually get my head around the most complex of software so don't see that side of things being an issue....so in short....What desk/usb interface am i best with?....im sure some opinions differ from others....my budget is anything up to £300/350.....Thanks in advance for any replies........and apologies for being a complete newb!

I played on one of these a little while ago and was amazed by the projection, volume and clarity of it played purely acoustically. After playing on a few acoustics over the years i had just always excepted that they were only ever any good if they semi acoustic and plugged in but now i really want one....the only problem being that this being a martin the price tag was a little out of my range. My question is that is there any acoustic basses out there in the more budget price range with actual volume played acoustically?
One line of the ad: "THIS BASS IS MADE IN USA and according to Serial number was manufactured in 1980!" another line: "THIS BASS is not Japanese, Mexican, Chinese, Korean on Indonesian This is a 1972 made in USA Fender Precision Bass!" Is it a 1980 or a '72?
Yeah i noticed that, think he cut and pasted from another ad he had....its definately an 80.....although -1 to him for not checking his ad!

What would be a realistic offer for this? and how much will the shipping/tax be likely to the uk? Thanks in advance
I'm all for it. Surely I can't be the only bassist who also doubles up on Stylophone Disclaimer Apologies to anyone under 45 who has absolutely no idea what a Stylophone is.
+ 1 for Stylophone chat.
That is stunning. Any interest in a Rockinbetter? It's currently residing in this thread, on page 2. 4001/4003 copy with actual Rick pups/wiring/bridge/tailpiece. If not, no sweat and good luck with that glorius looking bass. Cheers, Karl.
Thanks Karl i played one of those a little while ago in a music shop near me, but unfortunately didn't do it for me im afraid.

For sale/trade my cij aerodyne precision bass. I have owned this bass for just under a year and it is pretty much mint barring a small knock the the very top of the headstock which can be seen in the pictures. Ideally i would like to trade for an early 80s precision special or similar plus some cash from my end, but might be tempted by something else.....so let me know what you have. from a sale point of view considering i paid £500 for this and the case cost me £60 i was looking for about the £470 mark + post (but if your nearish to Northants i will deliver for fuel) if this price seems excessive please let me know, as these things are pretty rare its tricky to know what they go for, although a red one went on ebay the other day for about 420 but had 120euro postage on it! this is a really nice bass and plays great but for me the neck is to close to a jazz (inch and a half at the nut) and i get on better with a p neck hence my reason for a sale.
? That song is about as Irish as my mobile phone..?
i have an O'nokia though....so now im confused!

i had a similar problem with a gotoh bridge i put on my p bass, i put some chalk dust on the screws and then put them back on and they never came loose again.

well i play with an Irish/bluegrass 3 piece, the other 2 lads i play with are cockneys strangely enough and the closest thing i am to Irish is maybe the odd baileys in some coffee! We play Irish songs all year round and never get any abuse from what is usually a mostly Irish audience....i think the main thing to bear in mind is that certain Irish "rebel" songs have there place and making sure you don't play them in the wrong ones is paramount! at the end of the day people are out on St pats night to enjoy themselves, and as long as the music and drink is flowing then everyone's happy.
-
sounds like you have a problem with the ground connection, i had a similar issue with my p bass a few years back....not sure what the electrickery is like in yours but in mine the ground is connected to the bridge and the wire had came away.
I'm not so sure about that. The information I've always had was that Aria didn't start production in Korea until '88. I don't have definitive information that production continued in Japan before '88, but it seems a fair assumption to make in the circumstances. If your memory isn't playing tricks on you, and yours was the active model (SLB2A) as opposed to the passive model (SLB2), then you're looking at a date post '90, as that was the year the active model was introduced. Any time after '88 if it was the passive model. FYI, the SLB series was manufactured in Korea.
So if mine has a 7 digit serial number starting with a 7 (denoting 87) but is also active then its post 90?

Thanks pete that ones probably in a bit better nick than mine..... think i will just ask what i paid for it....nothing lost/gained etc.....and mines active/passive...is that a factory fit or has mine been modded?

No problem waldemar, i must admit i quite like the sound of it (bar the odd crackle) but im not so keen on the look of it, i have owned it for about 2 years after a guy i was working with at the the time overheard that i played bass and wanted to shift it, i just brought it for a change with no idea what it was worth on a whim! with that in mind (and the fact that it mainly sits in its case doing nothing) i was thinking of putting it up for sale, what would be a fair price for something like this?...seems a shame for it to sit around and not be played, and im sure someone out there is a fan of these (apart from yourself of course)
