3. Hello there, I have recently bought some more new toys so I am looking to trade my rack case for a bigger one. If you have a 6U, but you need only 4 - pm me . The rack is in good state, no issues, a few marks here and there, but that's what we use them for . I am based in London, would prefer to meet for a swap. All sorted now! Cheers, Steff.
4. With great thanks to Chris for being noble and keeping his word, I can say that today is one of the happiest days of my life! After 650 miles and 14 hours I can finally sit at home and hold the instrument I've dreamed to play for the last few years! And it is awesome! This bass now will be put on good use, I am doing music full time and definitely that sound will find place in at least 2-3 of the bands I play with. It will be religiously treated and I give my word If I ever decide to sell it (I seriously doubt that), it will be on sale here on basschat and nowhere else for about the same price. Regards, Steff. Sorry for my English, but I am a way too exited! Thanks, Chris!
5. Yeh mate, I've spotted that one couple a days ago... If I wasn't buying a new bass, I would have bought it... It's been sold at a ridiculously low price as well!
6. Al'right... would you actually call that thing a "bass"? I wouldn't... And where is the thin line when a bass stops being a "bass" and becomes something else? 5 strings - Lovely, but not classic... 6 - ok, I'll accept that, especially when playing fusion, jazz and similar... but what about 7, 8 and 49str? ...
7. Is that one gone? If not, could you send me a few photos? Cheers, Steff.
8. Lol... You're right, it looks amazing on stage and sounds even better... I had it for 2 years and I used it along with two more 18' cabs... It was quite an impressive rig ... I think somewhere here I've spotted a black 2x10 for sale, let me try to find it, if it's still for sale, I might buy it and put that on sale.
9. Thanks for the offer dude, I had one of these a few months ago, but I had to sell it, due to it's size. Now, I would love to get one again, because in my opinion it sounds better that the 2x10 powerhouse. The other thing is, I am powering them with a bass 400+ and this one is 4ohm, my 18' is 8ohm... I don't really want to run my amp at 2.66ohm, because I am using it at quite high levels and I don't want to take the chance of frying it.
10. Hello folks, I am looking to trade my Mesa 2x10 8ohm 600W silver grill for another Mesa 2x10 or 4x10 in black, must be 8ohm. It'll just look cooler with my 18' Mesa cab, which is in black. It's in a good state, a few dings and scratches here and there, since it's been gigged. Hit me with your offers I'm based in London, could travel for the right offer. Cheers, Steff.
11. Lovely bass... But I'm about 500 quid short ... Good luck with the sale!
12. Lovely bass... If I only had one more fretted, or funds to buy one, I would've gladly offered you that one ... Have a bump on me!
13. Bump! Sorry for not uploading more photos, I am moving house and last two weeks has been quite messy... Should be done by the end of the week, hopefully .
14. Alright... I've had my bass for 11 years now, bought it new in '99. The bass is in good condition. It's been gigged a lot and it has never let me down, but I feel like it's time for a change... The SR5 comes in his original condition, no mods. Original hard SKB case. Since I am gigging all the time, I can't sell it, that's why I am after a trade. I am looking for a bass in the same price range (750-900GBP), or a more expensive one + cash your way. Any trade offer will be considered. I am after a 5str, but will consider any old 4 Fender J or P, as well as some Sadowsky or other quality 4 stringers. I am willing to upgrade, not to downgrade, so no offers for cheap basses will be taken under consideration. I am based in London, would prefer to meet. [email protected] 07889264587 Regards, Steff. Can take and email more photos if needed. Has one dent, which I'll shoot tomorrow and upload it here, otherwise in great state.
15. Do you play coated strings? Is it a constant buzz, which goes off when you touch the bridge or the pickup? Because I am playing coated elixir for years and sometimes, if something's wrong with the amp grounding, I get a little buzz, especially when the strings are new and the coating is undamaged. Did you try to plug the bass in another amp or PA to see if there's a difference?

17. Well if you are doing a full revalve, you should buy a set of 12 matched valves for Mesa/Boogie Bass 400+ - Watford Valves sell a set like that. In that case it won't need biasing. If you are buying only one or a pair of valves, that should be a temporary solution, because they won't match the old ones and that might shorten the life of some of the valves, and there might be some other faults in time (not sure about that).
18. It is said in the manual, that the bass 400+ has a fixed bias... Doesn't that means that you can't really make any biasing?
19. As far as I know - yes, if you pull out the bad tube and its opposite. As you see, there are two rows of six valves, so just pull out the opposite one as well and I guess it should be fine for a while. I wouldn't guarantee that though. As for revalving - I will be doing it myself, as for you - up to you . It's not really a big deal, just pull out the old ones and replace them with the new, unless I'm missing something.
