  1. Nice work. I know the song but I'm not very familiar with the bassline so I wouldn't have ever got it. Over to you @steantval
  2. I'd be lying if I didn't say Flea wasn't one of the reasons I picked up a bass in the early 90s. The Blood Sugar Sex Magik album was (and to a degree still is) my bass bible, albeit notable for its lack of slap bass compared to their previous output. Whilst RHCP have completely jumped the shark these days, I'm still a huge fan of their early output and the bass playing on it. Whilst a lot of what he plays isn't that complicated, the speed and energy he plays with made it unlike anything anyone else was doing at the time. Obviously having Chad Smith as your drummer helps a great deal too. I have nothing against slap when it's done well. The problem is that it rarely is! Like a lot of things, it's an easy concept that's hard to master.
  3. Right, well I've nothing to offer right now, so if anyone wants to jump in......?
  4. You wouldn't say that if you had to work with loads of 'em!
  5. It is indeed Sir Gary of Mounfield. I even played it on a hollowbody for authenticity 😉 I've nothing else recorded right now (that one took me bloody ages!) so hopefully someone else has?
  6. Apologies for the rather abrupt editing, but this is the only bit of the song I could play consistently well enough! It does contain what I think is the most distinctive part of the bassline so it should hopefully be recognisable.
  7. You were on the right track. I seem to remember his first four albums were all called "Peter Gabriel", and Weezer also released several eponymous albums.
  8. No and no. As with pretty much every other one I've uploaded, it's very 90s (just like me!) It would appear (in part at least) that this band used a similar naming convention for their albums as Peter Gabriel in the late 70s/early 80s.
  9. Yeah sorry, I skipped a step. That's what I meant 👍🏻
  10. When you get some news you don't want to hear?
  11. Tim's one of my favourite players, in fact he's one of the guys responsible for me picking up a bass all those years ago. Anyway, onwards....
  12. Know Your Enemy by RATM. I nearly did that one myself!
  13. I believe so. When posting, use the "click to choose files" link near the bottom of the window.
  14. Anyone got one ready? Think I've got one left that I did at weekend to keep things going?
  15. Nope. It's a little more cheesy than that, and the caucasian youth in this track is definitely singular.
  16. Nice easy one to get us back on track?
