Boost low mids instead of lows.
Have an experiment with the low cut function and then boosting lows on the EQ as well, I don't know why but that seems to work sometimes.

Mark it out, use a sharp chisel and go slow is my advice.
Unless you're dead set on using a router.

We're not all made of money, changing to a fretless is not always an option.
Fretted basses are easier to find, as are necks (for builds). Second hand as well.

Bought a sack truck from machinemart for about £35.
Since then I've had a mate fit some larger wheels (and change their location) to make moving through mud easier plus sprayed it camoflauge for festival beer carrying reasons.
It can carry several hundred cans of carling, or 2 heavy cabs at a time (or any combination of the two) no problems

At uni - Housemates in - reasonable / housemates out - loud
At home - Quiet as possible due to elderly neighbours

Put my amp on top of the house bass amp once "Don't want that redundant old sh*t" worked quite well.

Bass pod pro > Housemates fancy denon 2.1 system
For a while, it wasn't too bad to be fair, when you started to crank it, then it hated you.

Getting my amp down there this year though, thank god.

I watch bass players intently when I see a new one because some have a tendancy to overplay and some to completely underplay.
But I don't get bitchy like drummers seem to, I just think "I'd have played that differently"

It's more than likely the few who walk past the hot drummer shop and go in the bass cellar will be thinking "Whats the awful racket, oh it's that pale nerdly looking kid with the big guitar, I'm gonna go have a sweaty backdoor lovemaking session with this rich salesman"

I'm seriously glad I didn't get a kit, for the amount of bass I've gotten for what I've spent it's quite remarkable, hunting down parts seperately, making them all fit. It's all part of the fun.

I had one it was okish low down with a bit of EQ twiddling, but past the 12th fret it was awful, the neckdive was killer especially for such a thick neck, and it gave everyone the impression I played a lot of metal (seeing as I had long hair at the time).

I kind of miss it in a way because it was my first semi decent bass and the deal I sold it in ended up me being out of pocket by about £50 (never give finance to friends).
But I wouldn't buy another.

I don't know about some of that, if I had someone show up in their tescos uniform to play a gig, sorry but no.

I think you definitely should have played it before handing over any money.
Not quite sure how he can justify charging you £85 for that job either, did you not ask him why? If someone quotes me one figure then charges over double I'm gonna refuse to pay that.

You should definitely be doing more.

In all fairness I emailed stringbusters, 20 minutes later they emailed back to say they're sending a replacement today so I'm not too fussed. But when you pay £32 for a set of strings it's a bit strange to have one break so easily.

Finally got into doing some proper playing today on my newly strung up project, the strings have been on a whole day and the E string snapped while I was resting my thumb lightly on it.
Have la bella been having some quality control issues or something?

Anyone else had problems with them lately?

Real progress finally. Finished the finish now, I'm debating whether I should polish it. I quite like it as is, bit of tcut and wax would no doubt make it uber shiny.
Assembled and set it up today, plays really nice, the neck is actually a little thinner than my other jazz which is ideal for my stumpy sausage fingers.
All that is really left to do is sheilding, buying some pickguard screws (guitar parts worldwide are still out of them), buying the pickups and dropping it all into place.
